Some freight exceeds standard dimensions. Some freight demands a stable temperature environment throughout transit. Strategic Transportation Ltd. has built specific capability for both — oversize transport with full permit management and escort coordination, and temperature-controlled options for cargo where ambient conditions during transit are not acceptable.

Our oversize transport capability covers loads that exceed standard Alberta highway dimensions in any combination of width, height, weight, or length. We manage the full permit process through Alberta Transportation's Online Permitting System and coordinate inter-provincial applications when moves cross into BC, Saskatchewan, or other jurisdictions. Route surveys are completed in advance of the move to confirm clearances, identify restrictions, and establish the approved route before the load ever leaves the yard. Escort vehicles are arranged and briefed on conditions before departure — we don't improvise on permitted moves.

For temperature-sensitive freight — industrial chemicals, certain food-grade materials, pharmaceutical components, and other commodities requiring controlled transit environments — STL provides temperature-controlled trailer access on established Western Canada corridors. Reefer trailers maintain consistent temperature ranges throughout transit regardless of ambient conditions, ensuring your cargo arrives in the condition it departed. Combined oversize-and-temperature requirements are also accommodated for specialized industrial or laboratory equipment requiring both dimensional permits and climate control.
